In Singapore’s first nationwide BIM (Building Information Modelling) competition, around 140 participants from 47 teams of students and professionals will square off in a grueling 24 hours of on-site competition. The first event of the Singapore Construction Production Week, the BIM competition, jointly organised by the Building and Construction Authority (BCA) and buildingSMART Singapore, will be held at the BCA Academy of the Built Environment from 25 to 26 April and will unveil Singapore’s most skilled BIM users.

There are five categories for the competition, with not more than 3 persons per team:

Professionals (Architecture)

Civil and Structural Engineering

Mechanical and Electrical Engineering

Construction, Quantity Surveying and Facilities Management
Participants will have to demonstrate the following in the competition:

Ability to demonstrate the capability of BIM and its benefits as many as possible within a short time (eg. conceptual design, modelling, documentation, simulation/analysis, walkthrough, quantity take-off, crash detection etc)

Creative and innovative in the use of BIM for better sustainable or buildable design

Presentation style that shows team work effort

Interoperability across various software platforms (eg. Modelling to simulation/rendering)
